Our Story

Extract Talent was launched in 2014, after its founder, Nancy Newman, spent more than 26 years in leadership consulting, executive search, and innovative executive education. After the Texas City disaster of 2005, Nancy was recruited by the consulting firm, JMW, to coach business leaders to build successful teams, manage through the crisis, and ultimately transform the site's culture. She saw the kind of courage and foresight it took for leaders to actually transform groups of people. Leaders had to make unpopular decisions, counter the doubts many employees had, and earn the public's trust of a battered and sometimes controversial industry. She knew for the energy industry to be successful, they needed to attract and retain true transformational leaders.

Nancy's experience with executive and technical leaders in the energy industry gave her insight into the environments these people typically thrived in and what companies expected of them. With her background as an Ontological Coach, Nancy also learned more about what her executives wanted from their careers. At that point, it was a matter of ensuring exceptional companies were filled with extraordinary talent.

Whether searching for the elusive "purple squirrel" or retaining the talent energy companies have, Extract Talent has helped thousands of leaders build their best teams. Our personal and confidential approach to connecting with great talent has earned us a deep network of talented executives, commercial-technical leaders, and scientists.

We believe advances in energy are crucial for our world, and our progress depends on getting the right leaders, scientists, and engineers working together. We also believe companies doing this work should have the best talent working with them. We're building a world where they do.
